How to search for people by email on facebook?

You'll need to use Facebook's Friend Finder, which gives Facebook temporary access to your e-mail address book.





1) Add the e-mail addresses that you want to search for to your e-mail address book if they're not already in it.


2) Go to your Facebook homepage -- the page with the News Feed on it. At the bottom of the right-hand column there should be a box: "Find Your Friends" with the text "Use our contact importer to find friends you didn't know were on Facebook." Click on "contact importer".


3) There are two ways to search for e-mail addresses at this point.


a) If you use a common webmail service such as Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, or AOL, fill out your e-mail username, select your e-mail provider, enter your e-mail password in the "Web Email" part of the form, and click "Find your Friends" Facebook claims that they won't store your password once they've accessed your address book. If you don't trust them, you can always try option b).


b) If you use a desktop e-mail client such as Outlook or Thunderbird, a less common webmail service, or don't trust Facebook with your webmail password, click the "Desktop Application" link. If you're using Outlook 2000 or higher, Facebook provides a special application that finds your contacts for you. Otherwise, you can upload a contact file generated by your e-mail client. Facebook provides instructions for most common desktop e-mail clients. In addition, if you don't trust Facebook with your Yahoo! (or Gmail, etc.) password, most webmail services will also allow you to generate contact files. If you have any trouble doing this, I can try to come up with more specific instructions.


4) Facebook will display a list of all of the people in your Address Book who list their e-mail addresses on their Facebook accounts, and you can choose who to friend. After you friend them, it will ask you to invite your contacts who are not on Facebook; you can choose who -- if anyone -- you wish to invite.

I dont think you can but really that's a security/privacy issue (public searches revealing an email address with full name attached to it? no thanks!)


but, if they are in your msn/yahoo/gmail address book, then u can 'invite' them to facebook and if they already have fb then it should tell u.


Or you could search by name.
